It was a last lap thriller in the men’s 4×800 relay as a last lap burst of energy surged Aquinas over Shorter University.
On the back straight Aquinas’ anchor pushed his body to the limit to get past Shorter’s anchor. Aqunias’ team pulled through to finish out the race by a time of 7:27. Shorter University came in second place with a time of 7:30.
Time alone does not do this race justice as the crowd was on its feet as the last lap began. Shorter University passed Aquinas and less than half a lap later Aquinas’ anchor was on the move again. He kicked it into gear and used all the energy he could possibly find to pull out a win for his team.
But it wasn’t easy, with a rain storm brewing in the background racers had to push themselves to stay dry.
Oklahoma Baptist finished the 4×800 in third place with a time of 7:32.48 and Embry-Riddle was right on their tail finishing out with a time of 7:32.8
